Histoires vraies

This project, which is based above all on the meeting and exchange between four dancers of different origins and cultures, including two Indian dancers and two European dancers, aims to create a play that, under the prism of dance, connects the history of each of these four artists with their/our collective history.

We are all carriers and passers of tradition and memories. But, as Salman Rushdie wrote, we are also “forgetters”. In contrast, this project will focus on the history and stories of dancing. Go back in time to discover the origin of certain steps, choreographic gestures and how they are passed down.

In the West as in the East, the tradition of dancing is very diverse, but in Europe, beyond social and traditional practices, different dances and their techniques have been mixed together and are now passed down in different ways depending on the people who transmit them. For example in India, the passing down of dances is much more precise and dances are thus rooted in tradition, directly related to a way of life and a way of thinking.

As part of Festiv’arts-en-Berry, and with the support of the Centre-Val de Loire Region (PACT). The company C.Loy is contracted with the Centre-Val de Loire Region and is assisted by the DRAC Centre-Val de Loire.
